All Things Optic: Q2 2025

Q2 / Spring means one thing… report season is in full swing!

And with a major new client on board this year, our reporting projects are busier than ever.

We have built on our 9 years of partnership with Thames Tideway, providing the design and publication of their Annual Report & Accounts. It’s a project we love working on, with a great team and an evolution that has adapted with advancements in reporting.

What was initially delivered as a printed, portrait Annual Report back in 2016 has moved on to become a fully interactive, landscape-format, digital report. This notable change was made primarily with screen-use in mind, but has also led to other benefits including a reduced page count, greater use of imagery, and a navigation system that performs like a website within the constraints of a PDF.

In addition to our work for Tideway, we are incredibly proud and excited to be working with one of the UK’s largest construction projects, in an industry we know well – the energy sector. We’re unable to share too much before the work is complete, but it is undoubtedly a huge opportunity for us as a studio and a chance to showcase our capabilities on a larger scale than ever before.

Alongside an Annual Sustainability Report that includes a range of exciting projects within the surrounding environment and community, our focus will also be on delivering a first ever ‘glossy’ Annual Report & Accounts, as well as an accompanying Modern Slavery Statement. As always, one of our main goals within this project is to ensure quality and consistency align across each of these outputs, creating a cohesive suite of designed material that reflects the organisation in the very best way possible.

It has also been an incredibly exciting period for our branding projects, with a number of new identities launched alongside accompanying websites, videos and photography content. Most recently, our rebrand for Studio G Architects was launched – a project we’ve loved working on, providing everything from logo and identity design, through to a new website, branded video and photography.

Speaking of video and photography, we had a brilliant time in Manchester with our long-term, US-based client Call Miner. It was fantastic to be part of their LISTEN UK event once again, capturing their impressive two-day conference with our videography team on stage at the Lowry Hotel, as well as a really enjoyable evening of celebrations at Treehouse, Manchester.

Outside of the studio, the weather has been glorious – that is, it feels like, until an organised bike ride comes along!

After months of training and a dry and dusty Dirty Reiver gravel event in April, June presented a new challenge on the bike: the Dragon Ride in Wales. Weeks of sunshine and a heatwave leading up to the event meant only one thing – Biblical rain and gale-force winds throughout. A 5:30am start led to 13 hours on the bike, with a moving time of around 11 hours, achieving 134 miles and over 11,000ft of elevation. The fun didn’t stop there (to say the least!) but, if you haven’t seen my post on LinkedIn that’s a story for another day.

If you’re on Strava and fancy sharing the pain of training rides and under-desk Zwift sessions, feel free to give me a follow.

With a number of challenging goals set both in and out of the studio this year, 2025 is providing to be incredibly productive and rewarding. Finding time to share these updates isn’t always easy, but with more regular updates on LinkedIn, it would be great to connect.

Until the next one, have a great summer ahead 🙌
